The ski and snowboard industry, Avalanches, Avalanche rescue, Mountain rescue, Teamwork, Execution of task and Stress management.

Richard Wyne is an accomplished speaker with the ability to engage and captivate his audience. His teammate Nora, always with him, rarely has anything to say.

Richard has been a professional Search and Rescue dog handler since 1993, earning the highest level of certification in North America and Europe with a specialty in Avalanche Rescue. He has been with North America's largest mountain resort, Whistler-Blackcomb, since 1989. His responsibilities include Avalanche rescue dog Trainer-Handler, Search Manager, Team Leader and Public Educator.

Concurrent with his rescue role, Richard was the injury prevention specialist and program director for the B.C. Ministry of Health Whistler Sportsense from 1993 to 2003.

At the Snow Valley Ski Club in Alberta , he was the patrol manager from 1986 to 1989 while starting his career as a Telemark ski racer and coach.

Richard studied philosophy, majoring in ethics and jurisprudence, at the University of Alberta . However, he assures us the time to strategize ethical business behaviour is not usually in the middle of a rescue.

Richard has evaluated over 50 ski and snowboard areas throughout North America and Europe , focusing on operations and design.

In 2005 the Outdoor Life Network USA (OLN) produced a thirty-minute documentary on Nora and Richard to launch a TV series called Avalanche Dogs. They were also featured on MTV.
